Who is Mag?

Early Crypto Involvement

Magmar got got into crypto at age 13 or 14, mining $BTC and $DOGE on his laptop. At around 15, he constructed and modified one of the first ASIC miners for Litecoin and moved to the U.S.

Ethereum and SF Move

During high school, Mag got ETH-pilled and moved to SF in 2016 to build one of the very first NFT projects on Ethereum, Valuables, which notably sold Jack Dorsey's first ever tweet for ~$2,9M.

Education & Quantitative Trading:

Mag Studied finance in college, and worked at Bridgewater, Ray Dalio's firm, as a quantitative trader. After a while he moved to Atlassian where he acted as a product manager for several software products.

Pivot Back to Crypto (2020)

Being bored with TradFi and enterprise software development, Mag reached out to Barry, his best friend and roommate in college, deciding to transition back into crypto.

Skip, MEV & Cosmos

MEV piqued their interest, so they decided to start their first MEV company in Cosmos built on top of Terra called Skip Protocol.

Soon they realized that MEV wasn't the thing that's going to grow the pie in the Cosmos ecosystem. Hence, Skip pivoted to building interop tooling like Skip:Go, the Skip API, and IBC(dot)fun to facilitate onchain UX and streamline user & liquidity onboarding from other ecosystems.

But it wasn't enough

Mag & Barry felt that they didn't have the level of impact they needed to make Cosmos the #1 crypto ecosystem they wanted it to be. The Cosmos vision and architecture was right, but something crucial was missing.

Acquisition by the ICF

After turning down a fund-raising opportunity for a "Cosmos alternative", valued at $1B FDV, Skip was acquired by the Interchain Foundation for a fraction of the previously rejected offer. Since then, Mag & the Skip team have taken over the leadership of the Cosmos Hub, the Cosmos Stack, and inherited the resources of the ICF (~$300M).
